I can help you praise the makers of L Word!! What a fab series!

I hear they are filming season six at the moment....but it is the last one!!!

One of my mates has been to the L Word conferences in Blackpool and Heathrow this year....she is a true true fan! She lent me her season 4 DVD last week and I was hooked all over again.

Well my first secondary school I had to leave because of extreme bullying, but that wasn't to do with being gay, that was because....well to be honest them lot where a load of nutters.
However in my new school when I came out, everyone was great! I get the odd "So how DO you do it with a girl?" Which I don't take offensively I take it as curiousity and in a way shows that sex ed is all geared for steight couples, which really annoys me!
ANYWAY.
Only two people in my new school have every said anything about the fact I'm gay; Zoe a girl in my tutor who found out from someone round the school goodness knows who and came up to me to ask if it was true, when I said yes I think more out of shock she said "eurgh thats gross!" but on doing this my friends and a load of people I didn't even know suddenly jumped her and where screaming "STEFF'S WELL ALRIGHT LEAVE IT OUT!" I was quite shocked by that but was almost like wow that pretty cool at the same time. The next person to say anything.....well alot of things was my ex boyfriend, he had been pretty bitter about our brake up anyway (especially when I got so annoyed with him I threatened to put my ciggie in his eye) but when he found out I was gay he went a little bit loopy. First telling a lot of people when at which point I wasn't ready to come out and then telling the girls of the school I was stalking them and lots of other dogey stuff. Luckily well Ashton, well to be honest not many people like him and alot of people shrugged it off that he was still bitter about our brake up months back and thought him pretty pathetic. When I did come out finally at school he started again with the spreading stuff about me and other girls, and I'm sorry but at that point he went too far and so I HAD to have a raging hissy fit at him! But he then in the middle of this said personal stuff that I had told him when we had been dating and this really hit me. I've had alot of problems in the past with depression mainly from the bullying from my old school and what Ashton said spiralled me down into a new depression. But with the help of my friends and my ex-girlfriend I managed to over come that depression.
Now I've actuly managed to talk to Ashton about my sexuality without him going scitzo on me, talking about gay pride and how mt parents reacted, I sometimes feel when he is asking me he is slightly taking the mick, but it's a start euh?
Now the only people I get hassle off of are people from my first school who are always deturmined to find any way to get to me, but I am strong and will normally tell them to F*!%&£$ p!** off. So in genral it hasn't been too bad for me!

I live in Kent!
Suprised there are no Kent people on here actuly, I mean I seem to know a lot of the Gravesend and Tunbridge Wells gay people, it suprises me actuly that none of them are on here!
Kent is actuly a well alright place, and not just because it's like an hour from Brighton, but because for me there is a lot to do! There are a few gay clubs (Hoping once I get my fake ID I'll be let in haha!) and I go to a LGBT youth group which is great and we've already done a lot of good stuff like the Brighton Equality walk throught that!
Get writing Kenters!

Yeah, that made interesting reading
You always here these horror stories about people being chucked out or wahtever, and sure, that does happen, but there are the good ones as well.
I have two Godmothers (in a relationship) which kinda gave me the warning that it might be ok.
Not sure if my parents have clocked on that im not straight yet, theyve been to gay pride with me, but still talk about me having kids
guess they havnt figured that i'm not female either :P

Well Well Well, what can I say about comming out at school, be prepeared for a long message on this as I have a long story....

All of my school life I have been bullied, for no reason twice because of beeing gay, the first time, when I was in jounior school, I wasn't sure if I was or not, and that passed quickly.

The second time was during year 11 and GCSEs, two of my friends knew already and they were fine with it, but I made the up most terrible misstake of texting a friend of mine, why I don't know, saying that I thought he was hot and I wanted him, and that went round the whole school, and then i was called names, had the mick taken out off, and I got to the point of bunking school, I almost walked out once, the teachers knew and did nothing, but I was off school for about a week and when I went back it had died down and there were some friends that spoke to me again, saying that they had to go along with it as they didn't want to get bullied, understandable, and a couple of the girls said they stood up for me, so things got back to normal. I finished my GCSEs with really bad grades, all D-Gs.

College was somewhat better, did get some micky taking but only from the really in-mature students, which from school I toughened up and I didn't let it get to me.

Since then, at work, etc I've had no trouble, or if there is it don't get me down like it did in school. I'm now 20 and more confident then what I was in school. so I suppose that it help me in a way, but if I could change what happend I would do.

I came out when I was about 14/15 can't remember if it was my friend or my mum first, but I was seeing this guy, and I went home with a love bite on my neck, tried to cover it up, but one thing lead to another and there was rows but all went well in the end and then just before my 18th birthday party I wrote letters to key people in my family about my sexuality and to tell everyone else, if and/or when they are ready to know, I got a letter back from my nan which made me cry as they showed their love and and acceptance of me, which was the biggest boost for my confidence, my aunt said she had her suspisions as I have always been quite femenine guy, my friend on the other hand took it a lot worse, and I found how little amount of true friends I had, I won't go into details as it is a long story, but the basic is that I made a massive mistake which led to a lot of bullying, but it did pass. So if and when you decide to tell your family do it as soon as you feel confortable to, as they will most likely already know and waiting for you to be ready, 9 times out of 10 they will accept it and show their love uncontitionaly, if they don't then seek help and advise, there are many people who have experianced this and understands what you are going through and how you are feeling, either from themselves or with a friend or a partner.

Hope this helps anyone who is thinking of coming out to their frinds and family.

Shane
